Architecture refers to the systematic and consistent pattern of Western foreign policy interventions and occupations that have been organized to support the Israeli state’s operations against Palestinians. This framework encompasses a broad network of political, military, and media operations that have sustained Israeli control over Palestinian territories and justified the ongoing displacement and subjugation of the Palestinian population. The architecture’s operations are not random but are deliberately structured to maintain conditions that allow the central Israeli operations against Palestinians to continue without effective external constraint.
The architecture has been instrumental in shaping the global narrative around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, ensuring that the extensive human rights violations and civilian casualties caused by Israeli military actions remain largely absent from Western public consciousness. This has been achieved through a combination of media censorship, selective amplification of certain narratives, and the systematic omission of critical information from mainstream reporting. The result is a Western public that has been systematically deceived about the true nature of Israeli operations, which has in turn sustained political and financial support for these operations.
The architecture’s response to the partial breaking of the information environment that the post-October-7 period has begun to crack open indicates how operationally significant the information environment has been to the maintenance of the operations across the previous decades. The visibility that the post-October-7 period has begun to produce is a threat to the operations precisely because the operations have depended on invisibility. The architecture is fighting to restore the invisibility because the visibility threatens what the architecture has been doing. The fight is currently underway and its outcome will substantially shape what becomes politically possible across the next period.
